Thankfulness is something that’s been on my mind a lot lately. I saw somebody else write a blog post similar to this and it really got me thinking. That blog post, along with some scripture I’ve recently stumbled across, has inspired me to compile my own list of things I’m thankful for. So here it is.
1. God’s forgiveness
I’ve always considered myself a “good person” but I know I continue to fail God daily and often give in to my own desires. His forgiveness is something I’ve been in need of a lot.
2. My family
Not many people can say their parents have been married over 20 years, or that they can tell their parents anything, or that their mom is their best friend. I can.
Hence the name of this blog, I’m kinda addicted to coffee and I’m verging on obsession. I can’t even tell you how many late nights or early mornings coffee has gotten me though. Not to mention, it’s delicious and is completely acceptable to drink at any time of the day (or night).
Not to get all patriotic, but often WHERE you live determines IF you live. It continues to blow my mind how lucky and blessed I am to have been born in one of the world’s richest countries.
On the topic of where I live, I get cold really easily and can’t stand anything under 70 degrees. You could say I’m pretty thankful I was born and raised in Florida.
6. My Intelligence
When it comes to memorizing and typical school stuff, I’m not always the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but I’ve always been in gifted and AP and I’ve never had to work too hard to get decent grades.
7. My Friends
Most, if not all of my close friends are really genuine people. I have an amazing group of christian friends who I grew up with, and continue to do life with. Not everyone can say that.
8. My Job
Working in fast food has its ups and downs, but I couldn’t ask for a better boss or a better work environment. I really do love my job and I always miss it whenever I have more than a few days off.
9. Running Shorts
They’re comfier than yoga pants. They’re loose like a skirt, but you can still sit like a man when you wear them. Also, in my book, they’re socially acceptable to wear anywhere.
10. My Room
A LOT of people can’t say they have their own room, much less their own bed. I love my room and I probably spend too much time in here.
It seems like the best and most memorable moments are the spontaneous ones. I’m thankful I’m a person who can appreciate this and can roll with the punches.
12. People who are always 10 minutes late
Because I’m always 5 minutes late and it’s embarrassing to be THE LAST one to arrive.
A list simply can’t cover everything I’m thankful for. If I really could write it all out, nobody would take the time to read it. I’m just really thankful every day that I get to live. I’m thankful for everything life has to offer, the good and the bad. It’s great to celebrate in the good times, and the bad times always teach you a lesson, and you come out a better person. So yup, I’m thankful for life.
My challenge to anyone reading this is to think of a list of things you’re thankful for. I would love for people to share their list, but if you’re more comfortable keeping it to yourself, that’s ok too. Just remember thankfulness is not a feeling. It’s a state, or a condition you live in. Live in a thankful condition and share your joy with others!
